As a senior director in Chicago, Matt is responsible for assisting clients with ESG strategy and reporting and for leading account teams and ESG growth initiatives.

As sustainability reporting transitions from voluntary to mandatory around the globe, companies are examining how an effective ESG strategy can drive financial performance and create enterprise value.

Background

Matt is passionate about helping business leaders design and execute strategies that drive transformation, performance, and growth.  He supports a diverse group of clients, conducting industry, regulatory, and investment analysis to enable meaningful ESG strategies, business transformation, and stakeholder reporting. Matt has worked closely with public and private companies across a broad range of industries, including telecommunications, technology, healthcare, retail and consumer products, and financial services.

Prior to Riveron, Matt was a director in KPMG’s Global ESG Advisory Hub and the US firm’s Deal Advisory & Strategy practice. At KPMG, Matt supported clients with complex transactions, technical accounting and financial reporting, cross-border M&A and integrations, and ESG reporting and disclosures. He helped to build an ESG Reporting Center of Excellence and actively monitored sustainability frameworks and regulatory change across the US, EU, and global markets. Matt also served as a chief of staff to national industry leaders executing cross-functional growth strategies for the firm.

Matt began his career at the Governmental Accounting Standards Board and worked in entrepreneurial roles at the crossroads of sustainability, CSR, and social innovation for the African Leadership Group – leading the Africa Awards for Entrepreneurship at the African Leadership Network and bringing a new product to market with the African Leadership University, a Fast Company Most Innovative Company.

Professionally, Matt has lived in the United States (Chicago, San Francisco, Norwalk), Spain (Madrid), Kenya (Nairobi), and Mauritius, and has worked with executives, entrepreneurs, investors, and non-profit leaders across the Americas, Africa, Asia, and Europe.  He serves on the advisory board of TechLit Africa, Azubuike Arts, and Augustana College’s Accounting department.
